Trainz Addon Pack Updates (When Applicable)

2. How do I install a Trainz Patch?
Step 1: Determine What service pack(s) you need.
- Launch Trainz
- In the lower right hand Corner, note the build number.
- Proceed to FAQ #1 and locate the updates applicable to your build. It is best to apply as few updates as possible to lower the chance for a corrupt database. For example, TS12 can be patched to build 61388 from build 44922 by several patches but also offers a patch directly from build 49922 to 61388.
- Download the necessary patches.
Step 2: Backing up Content
While this step is not necessary, in the odd chance that your installation is corrupted, your precious content including rare and discontinued ones, will be kept safe from harm.
Method 1
- Click the windows start button.
- Click My Computer/ Computer
- Double click on the drive you installed trainz to. (Typically Local Disk C: Drive)
- For 32 bit systems proceed to Program files
64 Bit users proceed to Program Files (x86) - TS12 Users Navigate to N3V Games/Trainz Simulator 12/UserData | Trainz 2006-2010 Users Navigate to: Auran/TS20XX/UserData (XX being your version of trainz)
- Copy the local folder to your desktop.
Method 2
- Start Trainz and Click Content manager
- In the left hand pane, Expand the Search Tab
- TS12 Apply the following parameters: Built-in: FALSE , Installed: TRUE
TS2009 and 2010 Users Apply the following Parameters: Build-in: FALSE , Location: LOCAL - Now save all assets that appear to CDP's. (NOTE: Saving more than 800 assets to a single CDP has been known to freeze trainz. I recommend saving several CDP's of between 500-700 assets.)
- Now unfortunately its a waiting game here
Step 3: Re-install Trainz. (Recommended)
Many people choose to skip this step and do not experience any issues with trainz, however the majority of people do run into issues. Some of the benefits of this step are:
- Reduced Patching Times
- If any of the default content was modified in any shape form or fashon, the patcher will not patch the content and display errors. Re-installation corrects this issue.
- Less Issues down the road.
- Reduced probability of a failed patch. (Failed patches will force a re-installation of trainz with no exceptions)
- Un-Install trainz (Be certain you have completed step 2 prior)
- Re-install trainz. (Do not RUN Trainz after installation)
Step 4: Prepare for and Update Trainz
Note: Anti-virus/Malware programs as well as system monitoring programs have been known to cause Patches to fail as well as increase patching times exponentially.
Examples:
- Avast Products
- AVG Products
- Norton Products
- IOBIT Products (Such as Advanced System Care)
- Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
- Completely Disable any and all Anti-virus/Malware software and or Monitoring programs.
- Right Click on the first appropriate patch for your build version, and click properties.
- Under the General Tab click UnBlock.
- Click on the Compatibility Tab
- Place a checkmark in the box beside "Run this program as an administrator"
- Click apply
- Now Run the patch and wait for the magic to happen.
- Repeat Steps 2 through 7 for each subsequent patch.
Congratulations your trainz should now be patched!
3. How do I turn on Compatibility mode?
- Launch Trainz
- Click Start when the launcher appears
- Click Main Menu button in the upper left hand corner of the screen
- Click on Options
- A menu will appear
- Scroll to the very bottom of the right hand pane and put a tick in the Compatibility Mode Box
4. How do I install content (CDP's)?
Picture Tutorial available

[li]A program called content manager will appear.[/li]
[li]In the upper left hand corner of the program, click File.[/li]
[li]Click "Import CDPs..."[/li]
[li]In the window that appears, navigate to the location of the CDP file.[/li]
[li]Click on the CDP you wish to install. (Note: You can select multiple CDP's by holding Ctrl while clicking on the CDP's[/li]
[li]In the bottom right hand corner click open.[/li]
[li]Congratulations, trainz will now install everything within the CDP[/li]
[li]Once installed, the content will appear in a list within Content Manager.[/li]
[li]The Left hand side of the content manager contains tabs each with different lables. Make sure the "Download Helper" tab is expanded.[/li]
[li]Drag any content that has a Puzzle piece beside icon next to it, into the "Download Helper" tab to Que it for download[/li]
[li]Once all of the items that have puzzle peaces are in the "Download Helper" Tab, click start.[/li]
[li]Congratulations, trainz is now downloading and installing all dependencies on the Auran Download station.[/li]
[/ul]
5. I have done as instructed in FAQ #3 but why the puzzle piece is still there?
Picture Tutorial Available
It would appear that some of the "dependencies" are both not on the Download station nor included with the Model/Content in the original CDP. Recommendations in a situation like this are:
- Manually search the Auran DLS for the missing content manually as Content manager sometimes fails to locate and dowload older content.
- Revisit the site and or its corresponding forum, to see if the content may have a link or update that includes the missing dependencies
- Finally, if all else fails, Make a post on the creators forum or post a reply in the following appropriate threads and the community here will make an effort to assist you as best as possible.
